Since we started our educational enterprise in 2003, we have had the opportunity to talk to and work with teachers, parents, homeschoolers, students, educational psychologists, occupational and behavioural therapists and school board policy makers in the development of our theme-based curriculum kits. Now, as we kick off our new venture – In-class Field Trips – we are excited to be engaging with students and teachers in their own classroom communities.
“My favourite part was trading the cards and figuring out what we needed next.” – Gr. 3 student
“Fantastic! Students were all engaged, moving around, using strategy and doing something completely different.” – Teacher
Our education model for developing a field-trip includes choosing a theme that spans multiple grade levels and subjects. We infuse the activities with opportunities to develop soft skills such as collaboration, critical thinking and communication. As the kids participate in activities, they are combining math, language, social studies, science and, in some cases, fine arts curricula, based on BC elementary learning outcomes, as well as exploring the soft skills mentioned above.
